Pub of the Year 2012 Awards

The results of this year’s Pub of the Year awards are as follows:

City of Edinburgh Pub of the Year 2012
The Edinburgh Pub of the Year is the Cask and Barrel (Southside), W. Preston St.
Runner Up: The Bow Bar, West Bow.

Borders Pub of the Year 2012
The Borders Pub of the Year is the Cobbles Inn, Kelso.
Runner Up: The Craw Inn, Auchencrow.

Lothians Pub of the Year 2012
The Lothians Pub of the Year is the Volunteer Arms (Staggs), North High Street, Musselburgh.
Runner Up: The Grey Horse, Main Street, Balerno.

The Edinburgh & South East Scotland CAMRA branch overall Pub of the Year 2012 will be announced later.

Dan Kane - an appreciation

Dan Kane, a former Scottish Organiser, Edinburgh Branch Chairman and National Executive member died 20 years ago in February 1992. Long-serving CAMRA members, Colin Valentine, Ted Sharp, Forbes Brown and Tony Dean have each contributed to a tribute to Dan, which can be found in the What’s Brewing section of the CAMRA website members’ area. An abridged version was published in the February 2012 edition of What’s Brewing.

Pints of View - SNIB Newsletter of the Year 2011!

Our branch magazine Pints of View was awarded Overall Winner in the 2011 Scotland and Northern Ireland Branches Newsletter of the Year awards.

2012 Scottish Real Ale Festival

The 2012 Scottish Real Ale Festival will be held at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, New Market Road, Edinburgh EH14 1RJ, from the 28th to 30th June 2012. See the Festival website for more information.

2011 Scottish Real Ale Festival

This year’s Scottish Real Ale Festival was held on 16 – 18 June 2011 at its new venue of Adam House, Chambers Street, Edinburgh. The festival was a great success with record attendance and extra beer having to be brought in for the Saturday.
